An incredibly special model that is commonly associated as a Bob Weir Signature model and is considered by most as the "cream of the crop" when it comes to the Ibanez Professional Series of the 1970's. Made in September of 1976, this model 2681 features a few of the 1977 model specs due to it being built in the latter half of 1976.
Carved ash top (with German carve edges and abalone and cream binding) on a double-cutaway ash body, set maple neck with a 22-fret bound ebony fingerboard covered in the famous mother of pearl vine position markers which flow almost seamlessly into the ornate scroll headstock. Loaded with the original Super 80 pickups (that date to 1976) with the "Flying Fingers" embossed on the covers, a harmonica style bridge and stop string-through tailpiece. This one appears to be all original with the exception of some aftermarket vintage Yamaha tuners that seem to have been on the guitar for a long time as they're aged at the same rate as the rest of the original hardware.
Good vintage condition as pictured with some light signs of wear and tear. The frets are original and play smooth although they're slightly flat with plenty of wear, contact us if you're interested in having it re-fretted and we can offer a competitive rate from our in-house tech. The truss works as it should and the neck is straight, given a full professional setup and service prior to listing.
