Made in Japan in the early 70's, the SA-50B was very similar to the original SA-50 but was available in a range of new "Pearl Tone" colours including this lovely "Pearl Marine" finish. Semi-hollow maple body with a ser maple neck and 22 fret rosewood fingerboard (42mm nut width, 628mm scale, 13.75" radius), it weighs 3.5kg's.
Loaded with the original Yamaha "High Ratio" tuners and a pair of "Hum Free Yamaha Anisotrophic Ferrite" pickups (with fully adjustable pole pieces), the blend pot was replaced otherwise it appears all original.
Given a full professional setup and service, the tremolo has a beautifully smooth feel and it stays in tune nicely. The neck is straight and the truss works as it should, the vintage frets have some wear and tear but still play smoothly. There's some cosmetic wear and tear as pictured but no breaks or repairs.
