Although many Japanese guitars claim to be "Ibanez", unless it's wearing that glorious word on the headstock it's just not the same! Made in the early 1970's, these Barney Kessel models were produced in very low numbers and mostly made to order. Arched top fully hollow construction with binding on the top and back, it's wearing a bright Cherry Sunburst finish all over and weighs 2.7kg's. This one features block inlays and an embossed chrome Ibanez logo on the open book headstock, loaded with the original humbucker-sized single coil pickups for a true jazz-box tone.
This guitar received a rebuild from our in-house tech to fix some pretty severe sinking of the top around the neck pickup. It's now been brought back up with the addition of a V brace in the middle and shoulder bracing alongside the neck pickup to raise the top back to normal and prevent further movement. He also repaired the binding along the top edge where it was previously separated. Vintage frets are shiny and play smooth, contact us for a professional re-fret quote if you'd prefer some new ones though.
Appears close to all original in terms of hardware and components.
