Part of the Prototype Series of single cutaway electric guitars made by Matsumoku in 1978, the PE-1500 was one of the highest end models ever sold by Aria Pro II and were said to be a "tribute to Stradivarius". Carved maple top and back with a three-piece maple neck and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard (648mm scale length, 22 frets), it weighs a hefty 4.6kg's.
Antique Brown lacquer finish on the neck has worn down to a beautiful satin feel that plays soft and smooth, Grover tuners and a custom fabricated bridge keep it tuned and intonated perfectly. Loaded with the original Dimarzio pickup in the neck position with a replacement Gotoh humbucker in the bridge.
Nice vintage condition with a few cosmetic blemishes and dings but no repairs or structural damage. Given a full professional service and setup prior to listing, vintage frets are shiny and play smooth with some pitting and wear, truss works well and the neck is straight. Electronics were flushed and lubed. The headstock logo appears to have been rubbed off but there are signs of it being there at some point visible in the right light.
