Made in Japan in 1978, the original BB1200 was Yamaha's flagship bass and the start of their ascent into neckthrough greatness and paved the way for the famous BB2000 and BB3000 models to be released a few years later. Solid alder body with a mahogany/maple neck and a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard (44mm nut width, 34" scale length), it weighs 4.6kg's. Loaded with the original Yamaha P style pickup and an additional J pickup that was professionally routed at some point. A previous owner also had it professionally refinished except for the striped down the middle of the body to show off the neckthrough aesthetic. They also had the neck buffed and sanded back to a satin smooth finish for a softer feel and had the bass professionally de-fretted and strung with flatwounds.
Good vintage condition as pictured, received a full professional setup and service prior to listing including a deep clean, fretboard oil and truss adjustment. The neck is straight and plays smoothly.
