Considered by many as an upgrade to the standard Les Paul design, the Yamaha SG series are some of the fullest sounding guitars you'll ever play. This SG-1000 was a mid range model in the 1979 catalog and is a step up from the entry level models in specs. Weighing in at just over 4kg's, it's built with a mahogany body with a 2-piece maple cap, slim 60's maple/mahogany set neck and an ebony fretboard (12" radius, 628mm scale length, 43mm nut width).
Loaded with the original Yamaha tailpiece and tuners with an aftermarket tune-o-matic bridge, this one has the original SGH-1SOB pickups with the push/push coil split switches on the tone controls. Has a new nut installed, along with new knobs, one replacement tone push/pull pot and some new back cavity plates.
