Made in Japan in 1980, this is one of the professional grade Springy Sound models made by Tokai. Two-piece Sen body with a lacquer brown sunburst finish bolted to a very rare* soft V maple neck with a thin veneer rosewood fingerboard (43mm nut width), it weighs 3.6kg's. Loaded with the original pots and wiring, the ST-Vintage alnico single coils have the "E" stamp on them and are controlled by the original three-way selector.
This one was professionally refretted by Mick Harron when he was up here in Sydney doing one of his Masterclasses. It's also wearing a brand new bone nut and received a professional setup and service prior to listing. The neck is straight and the truss adjusts as it should, there's some light markings on the fretboard where the previous owner poorly attempted a refret without any guards but nothing that impacts on playing. The logo on the headstock has partially worn off as pictured but is still visible and original.
*Usually Springy Sound necks with a maple fingerboard had the V profile and rosewood fingerboards had the '64 C shape profile, making this one potentially a custom order or limited run.
