1980 Yamaha Japan SA2000S 335 Semi Hollowbody (Walnut Stain)
1980 Yamaha Japan SA2000S 335 Semi Hollowbody (Walnut Stain)
Japanese made in 1980, the SA-2000S was a higher end ES-335 sized model from Yamaha. Unlike most SA models that had beech tops, the 2000S had a solid spruce top coupled with a beech back and sides and a maple centre block. Set slim C profile mahogany neck and a bound 22 fret ebony fingerboard (13.75" radius, 628mm scale length), it weighs 3.8kg's. Loaded with the original Yamaha HB Spinex alnico humbuckers with a master coil split push/pull on one of the tone pots.
Received a full professional setup prior to listing and is overall in players condition with plenty of life left. There are a few cosmetic cracks to the solid spruce top that have been stabilised and are non-structural with no movement under pressure. Plays and sounds great with a reasonable amount of life in the frets and a straight neck with an adjustable truss.
