One of the very rare "Dan Smith" model Telecaster Elite models made in the earliest days of the Fender Japan venture, these are essentially a 1983 Fender USA Telecaster that was manufactured by the Fujigen factory.
These share many similarities with their US counterparts but there are some subtle differences. The maple neck (12" radius) has the Japanese “wide” dot spacing on the fingerboard and the neck pocket has the correct routing without the oversized corner routes. They both share the same Schaller components, FreeFlyte tremolo and BiFlex truss rod along with a Fender USA neck pickup and a Seymour Duncan IR bridge pickup.
Well loved vintage condition, professionally serviced prior to listing and plays nicely heavy wear to the medium-jumbo frets and plenty of playwear on the board. A true rarity and a great part of Fender history.
