Made in Japan in 1983, the SL550S was one of Yamaha's revised Studio Lord models. Wearing the seldom seen "Oil Stain" finish, it features an agathis body with a maple top, set mahogany neck and a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard and weighs 3.9kg's. Loaded with Yamaha L3 humbuckers (Dimarzio Super Distortion style pickups) and vintage style tuners, this one seems all original and is nice and tidy with shiny hardware and no major cosmetic blemishes.
Restrung and given a professional setup and service prior to listing, the frets have some light play wear but are shiny and smooth, the neck is adjustable and the truss works as it should. There's some clouding to the finish (primarily on the back) that's common with older Yamaha builds.
