Tokai Talbo (Tokai Aluminium Body) guitars were introduced in 1980 and feature a solid aluminium body with a chamber underneath the pickguard. These were known for having a crystal clear clean tone that resonates beautifully both acoustically and plugged-in.
Rosewood board and a maple neck, loaded with a 5-way selector with a Fernandes Sustainer in the neck position, a single coil in the middle and a Humbucker in the bridge, it weighs 4.1kg's. Loaded with Gotoh tuners and a Wilkinson tremolo system.
Heavily used condition as pictured with cosmetic bumps and bruises to the chrome finish but no structural breaks or repairs. Frets have some use but were polished prior to listing along with a fretboard oil and they play smoothly, the truss rod works well and the neck is straight.
If you're Australian and a certain age, you'll likely recognise these from their use with INXS. Nile Rodgers is rumoured to have put Tim Farriss onto Tokai’s Talbo Blazing Fire. Tim went on to use the Talbo for decades.
