A genuinely cool piece of music history that we're lucky to have the pleasure of owning.

This Jazz Bass, along with the Stratocaster we're also selling, was gifted by Courtney Love to Australian music legend Stephanie Bourke (the owner of the now defunct Kings Cross Conservatorium and Melbourne Rock 'n' Roll High School) in 2002. Bourke founded both of these schools to provide a safe space for young women to launch into the music industry.

Love discovered the work that the Melbourne RNRHS was doing to give young female musicians a platform and sent a total of 7 Fender guitars down to Bourke as a gift for the students. This guitar has spent the last 20+ years in Bourke's possession and has been used by countless emerging musicians in the Australian music industry. We were contacted by Bourke directly to sell some of her guitars and picked them up from her in person and have correspondence available from Bourke as provenance for the buyer.

The bass itself is in well loved condition as pictured. It's fully functional and is exactly as it arrived to us. Unlike manufactured memorabilia or autographed unplayed guitars, this is a genuine piece of Australian music history from an absolute legend of the industry.

To learn a little more about Bourke, please check out the Guardian article here:

*the article has the Courtney Love connection mistakenly dated to the mid 90's, we have recent written confirmation/correction from Bourke that this was actually in 2002.
