Made in Korea in early 2009, this was the Epiphone "Korina" model that was designed to replicate the original '58 Explorer on a budget. Made by the Unsung factory in South Korea, these are a higher quality build than modern Chinese Epiphones.
Epiphone advertises these as having a Korina body with a Korina neck and a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, it weighs just under 4kg's. Slim 60's style profile with a 43.5mm nut width, this one appears to be all original with Epiphone pickups and hardware along with Grover tuners.
This one came to us with a separation in the scarf joint along with some stress cracks around the tuners, both areas were injected with glue and clamped before being buffed and polished so they're both rock solid and smooth to the touch, the repair is undetectable in your hand when playing.
Received a full professional setup and service prior to listing including a fretboard oil, fret polish and truss adjustment along with the aforementioned repairs. Plays and sounds great with plenty of life in the frets and a straight neck.
