Get that one-of-a-kind tone with the Danelectro '56 U2. The '56 U2 is a legend in a long line of Danelectro hollowbodies, dating back to its original run from 1956 to 1958. The U2 is constructed from a hardboard/plywood body that is lightweight and delivers a signature midrange tone. In addition, a maple neck with pau ferro fingerboard offers wonderful playability and response. And when you plug in, two Lipstick single-coil passive pickups bring that vintage tone.

When it first appeared in '56, the U2 made a big impression for its use of twin Lipstick pickups wired in series rather than in parallel. With its coil wrapped around an Alnico VI magnet and then wrapped in tape, these pickups harken back to the vintage tone of rock's earliest days. The result is a tone that truly stands alone — jangly, midrange punch and treble kick. This unique sound and the playability of the U2 have won over numerous legends in rock, including Ronnie Wood, Steve Perry, and Mark Knopfler. It has also made the U2 a much sought-after axe in the world of surf rock. And with a 3-way pickup selector and master volume and tone controls, the '56 U2 gives you lots of options for dialing in your tone.
